David Fletcher was born in New Jersey and moved south with his family in 1964. He graduated from Lower Richland HS in 1969 and the University of South Carolina in 1973. Dave's passion for photography started while in high school. He borrowed his father's 35mm rangefinder and went to a local drag strip. He photographed the cars heating up their tires and jumping off the start line. After having the negatives processed Dave was surprised that he had actually caught the tires making blue smoke and were distorted from the build up of heat.  After that, he began snapping pictures whenever he could.  He photographed several weddings for friends and began building his portfolio.

Over the years, Dave got many opportunities to continue advancing his skills, doing photo shoots for family and friends and for church mission trips. He was even invited to photograph a scuba diving expedition to the bottom of Lake Jocassee that was featured on CNN (click here to view pictures from this shoot). All this time, Dave was building a wealth of experience and technology that he would apply to the creation of Fletcher Images.
