Hi! My name is Dave Fletcher and I have lived in Columbia since 1964. I graduated from Lower Richland HS in 1969 and the University of South Carolina in 1973. I am happily married to my wife Debbie since 1974. I am a Christian who is endeavoring to follow the Lord with all my heart since 1972. I am the proud Dad of two daughters who are also happily married and who have given Deb and me six very precious grandchildren.
My passion for photography started while in high school. Dad loaned me his 35mm film camera and went to Blaney drag strip. I started to photograph the cars heating up their tires and jumping off the start line. I had the film processed and I was very surprised that I had actually caught the tires making blue smoke and were distorted from the build up of heat. After that, I began taking pictures whenever I could. I started out, way back when, by photographing several weddings for friends from church. Looking back, knowing what I know now, I had no idea of the amount of trust they bestowed on me as their photographer.
Over the years, I've had many opportunities to continue advancing my skills, doing photo shoots for family, friends and for a church mission trip to Nicaragua. I had the honor to photograph a scuba diving expedition to the bottom of Lake Jocassee that was featured on CNN (click here to view pictures from this shoot). All this time, I was building a wealth of experience that I would apply to the creation of Fletcher Images that was officially born in 2005.

Who am I?
- I am the husband who gave my wife our first kiss as husband and wife, feeling the exhilaration that we are finally one and knowing that a thousand more kisses will follow.
- I am the father dancing with my daughter at her wedding, remembering bouncing her on my knee, and now knowing that she belongs to another man.
- I am the father who saw my wife fussing over our daughter as she prepared for her wedding, remembering the excitement our daughter felt the first time she tied her own shoe.
- I am the father who photographed our grandbaby before he was even born, capturing my daughter's round, pregnant belly and assuring her that she was still beautiful.
- I am the father who watched my daughter give birth, rejoicing with her in the miracle of new life, yet wishing I could spare her the pain of childbirth.
- I am the father who captured every tiny feature of that new baby as he lay there gazing intently at Pop just minutes after his birth.
- I am the husband and friend who captured the images of lifelong friendships formed on a hot August afternoon when a dive team braved 300 feet of icy water to locate my wife's childhood home submerged in the
Lake Jocassee. I was there when those photos were later shared at the funeral of one of the divers who left us too soon.
- I am the son who saw my mother's hands folded gently as we celebrated her new life in Heaven.
So Why Choose Me as Your Photographer?
For me, photography is more than lighting and posing; it's more than equipment and technique. It's all about relationships. The relationships that are important to you. For your special occasion or family portrait, you should want a photographer who can "see with his heart" and interpret your sentimental, emotional moments – someone who has the timing to capture them forever. Your photographs will provide a rare opportunity for someone to know you better, not just a couple of years from now, but even 50 years later as you open your album to show pictures to your grandchildren. I am a husband, a father, and now a grandfather. My life experiences have given me an appreciation for the journey you are taking – a journey that we often take for granted in our busy lives.
